Why do I need a music licence?

The law requires it!  The copyright law of Brunei Darussalam gives creators rights and protection to encourage them to produce.  Commercial music users need to obtain licence from right holders and pay a fee.  The website of Attorney-General's Chambers here provides more information about the law and a link to it.

It helps the business!  For some businesses such as entertainment venues, music is essential.  For many other businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and retail outlets, music gives a good vibe and enhance customers’ satisfaction.  Researches have found that appropriate music increases spending and lengthens consumption time.

Creators should be remunerated!  Business owners pay rent, wages, utilities, and raw material costs.  Music creators contribute to the businesses and should rightly and fairly be paid.
